The Community Hub at Stevensville opened in 2014. It was established as part of the Community Hubs Australia initiative, which the Scanlon Foundation and the Australian Government Department of Social Services support.
The Community Hub is open to all families, mothers, fathers and carers in the school's local area. Our hub works with migrant/refugee women and pre-school children, offering services such as playgroups, cooking and gardening groups, skills training, English classes, breakfast, homework and sporting clubs, volunteering opportunities and community events.
Through participating in our community hub, members of the local community can gain local information and services around education, health, community and settlement in a familiar and friendly place. Being part of a Hub can help families create friendships and support networks and give them a sense of belonging. Mothers, fathers and carers can also undertake volunteer work, education and training that can lead to employment.
Our Community Hub is a vibrant place that is always full of activity.
For further information about the programs and activities in our hub, don't hesitate to contact Jaswinder, our Community Hub Leader, who is available at the school on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
